On stores with a connected catalog, 91% of chat conversations include a product card, 97% of those show it in the first reply, and 9.7% of card conversations end in an order from the same visit. Every figure carries its data set and date.
A product card is a product with its photo, price and a link or add to cart button, rendered inside the chat reply. Measured on Shopify stores with a connected catalog and purchase attribution on.
91%
of conversations on stores with a connected catalog include at least one product card.
Nine conversations in ten on these stores are about a product, and the assistant answers with the product itself rather than a description. The remaining 9% are support questions: shipping, returns, an existing order.

97%
of product-card conversations show the card in the assistant’s first reply.
The card is the answer, not a follow-up. When the first reply had no card, a card later in the same conversation was rare.

2
replies with a product card per conversation, on average.
The assistant usually shows a product twice: once in the answer and once more when the shopper asks a second question or a comparison. It is not a catalogue dump.

An order counts only when the shopper’s Shopify cart matches the chat session, so the order comes from the same visit as the conversation.
9.7%
of conversations with a product card end in an attributed order, about one in ten.
Measured on the same stores and window. This is the order rate for the conversations in which the assistant showed a product, not for every visitor to the store.

61%
of product-card conversations are a single visitor message, and those convert best: 11.1% end in an order.
Conversations with two or more visitor messages end in an order 7.5% of the time. One question, one card, one purchase is the common shape. More questions usually mean the shopper is still deciding.

78%
of shoppers do not write again after the first product card, and they still order at the same rate.
Shoppers who leave the chat right after the card order 9.9% of the time, against 8.9% for those who keep asking. Silence after a card is not a lost shopper; it is a shopper who went to the product page.

Sample: 634 storefront conversations and 59 cart-matched orders on 10 Shopify stores using Chatonbo with purchase attribution, August 22 to October 23, 2026. Conversations are storefront sessions only; dashboard tests, internal workspaces and app review installs are excluded. A product card is a product rendered inside an assistant reply from the store’s connected catalog; a conversation counts as a card conversation when at least one assistant reply contains one. An order is attributed only when the shopper’s Shopify cart token matches the chat session, so every order here comes from the same visit as the conversation; orders matched by email are left out of this study, and so are orders from shoppers who never opened the chat. Chatonbo does not record taps on a product card or on its add to cart button, so the step between seeing a product and ordering is not measured; what is measured is whether the conversation’s cart produced an order. A split is published only when both sides have at least 15 orders, which is why the order rate of conversations without a product card (too few orders) is not compared here. No revenue figures are published; results are from stores that chose to enable attribution, not from every Chatonbo customer. The order rate on this page uses a different window and store set from the Chat to purchase study and is not directly comparable to it.
On Shopify stores with a connected catalog using Chatonbo, 91% of chat conversations include at least one product card, and 97% of those show the card in the assistant’s first reply (August 22 to October 23, 2026).
9.7% of conversations in which the assistant showed a product card end in an order matched to the same visit, about one in ten. Conversations with a single visitor message convert at 11.1%, conversations with two or more messages at 7.5%.
The data says yes. 97% of product-card conversations already show the card in the first reply, and conversations that end in an order are overwhelmingly of that shape: one question, a card in the answer, then the purchase.
Usually not. 78% of shoppers do not write again after the first product card, and their order rate (9.9%) is the same as the rate for shoppers who keep asking (8.9%). The next step after a card is the product page, not another message.
With Chatonbo, a product card on a Shopify store carries an add to cart button when the store uses the Chatonbo Shopify app. Taps on that button are not counted in this study; the study measures whether the conversation’s cart produced an order.
